Current Event for Week of 1/11

SWAT member kills woman and injures boy.

Acting on a search warrant a SWAT member shoots a woman in the home, injuring her one year old son as well. A man who the search warrant was against was arrested at the scene. The little boy lost his finger and is in a Columbus Hospital. Toys in the front yard signaled that there was a child in the home.

Current Event for the Week of Jan 11

Disguising as a Coke machine may be the newest way to ward off sexual predators.

29-year-old Japanese fashion designer Aya Tsukioka has invented a solution for the modest, everyday Japanese woman to feel more safe by herself at night. It is a skirt that folds out into a sheet with an actual-size picture of a Coke machine, which a person can hide behind. The idea of the vending machine disguise was inspired by a trick used by Japan's ancient ninja, who cloaked themselves under black blankets at night.

Women stuck 2 days in elevator

Two cleaning women in Chicago survived after being trapped in an elevator.

Current Event for the Week of 12/21

New movie coming out staring Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is said to be as much as a horror film as a musical. It expresses a breathtakingly, rigorously pessimistic view of human nature. As it was originally performed onstage, with all the songs Mr. Sondheim composed for it, "Sweeney Todd" balanced its inherent grisliness with a whimsical vitality.

Current Even For the Week of 12/21

Small group of US experts insist global warming not man-made

The article states that scientists are now thinking that global warming isn't true. They say that global warming is a phenomenon. They reached this idea from a small amount of data but all of it was saying that global warming did not exist.

Prosecutors Get Rape Case

Teenagers from massillon are being reviewed for possibly rape and unlawful sex. There are possible 10 or more perpetrators, some adults and some teens. But the government is unsure of what may happen yet to these teens.

While working, a contractor found money stuffed between walls in a house. The house belongs to a man named Bob Kitts and he believes the money shall be his but the contractor believes different.

Current Event for 12-14-07

Today the Mitchell Report on Steroid use in Major League Baseball is to be released to the public. The preliminary report shows that Rodger Clemens, one of the best pitchers in the league, has used performance enhancing drugs. Clemens's former trainer told the Mitchell Comission about the stars steroid use.

Current Event for the Week of 12/14

Veterinarian Accused of Putting Son in Dog Crate

A veterinarian is accused of putting his 4-year-old son in a dog crate for two hours as punishment last month. Police in this Youngstown suburb arrested Joseph J. Mullarkey Jr., 39, on Monday as he returned from lunch to work at a pet clinic. He is charged with felony child endangering.

President Bush's list of pardons -- issued with little fanfare --- includes carjackers, drug dealers and a moonshiner. But it does not cover former vice presidential aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, convicted in the case of the leaked identity of a CIA operative. Bush has already commuted Libby's prison sentence. Overall, Bush has issued fewer pardons than his predecessors. do you think that bush isn't pardoning him just because of his political power? do you think it is right for bush to have the right to pardon who he wants?
